Is The Harley Davidson Salesman The Loneliest Guy In Town, And Do They Regret Snubbing Me In The Past?

Filed in: Harley by admin on 12-31-09

HD sales have to be dismal in this bad economy
Do the HD Salesmen think about the past when they snubbed and sticked their nose up at customers that walked in wanting to buy a HD?

yeah, i got to agree with the asker….most, not all, but most hd dealer rips are a bunch of used car salesman, that are or were riding the latest fad, or fashion, and are looking to sell to the ones that “fit” the hd biker criteria, someone that proudly would wear a hog patch, and hang out with other hog members…the “big mac” of motorcycles, cookie cutter bikers, they feel the need to belong to something artificial. i walked in with cash in hand…15k..jack, but because i looked like an o.s.o.b., they chose to sell to the first sandal wearing sally that walked in the door with a higher credit score. f the rest, ride the best….Triumph

Bart, the loneliest guy in town is YOU! Those idiot salespeople are not lonely, they are standing in the unemployment line like most bad to mediocre sales people. The Great sales people are doing what they have always loved to do, meet and greet people and sell them something they want or need, they are still making what few sales happen, well actually happen.
But if it is any consolation Bart, I do understand what it is to be treated disrespectfully when you walk into a dealership. A few (the dealerships) and parts department people think that women don’t know a thing about motorcycles, cars or trucks. So in cases like that, I and my money have left.
We may not have many choices in this life about a lot of things-but one thing you do have a choice about is where you spend your money.

well, Harley sales are off by 17%. but then again, honda, Suzuki and Kawasaki sales are off by nearly 50%, all because of the economy. A rude salesman is a hungry salesman. I don’t care who he works for. I don’t know where you tried to buy one at, but I can tell you that local salesman here in Idaho are some of the friendliest and helpful people you will ever meet. And not just at Harley, but all the MC shops.

It only happened to you so i’m sure they’re fine. And no they don’t regret snubbing you.Their only regret is that they couldn’t thump you with a bat.Your like something nasty you step in that needs to be scrapped off your boot. And i have news for you,you could get a Harley for every day of the week and you’ll still be a loser that can’t get any respect,or chicks,or friends.
Glad to hear that Bart. She has no choice though.Your her son.

Dude that ain’t nothin I got snubbed at a Honda dealer. Five guys were standing around talking when I walked in. None of them greeted me, after walking around for a couple of minutes I looked thier way three of them disappeared in to thier offices, one grabbed his cell phone and turned his back to me, and the last one kinda stared blankly into space. Finally in a loud voice I asked ” Does anyone want to sell a motorcycle or have you all made your quotas for the day?” Reluctantly the blank stare came over he didn’t greet me or smile just had this attitude like I was interfering with his social time. Wouldn’t deal with me, and when I told him I wanted a cash price said that was the best he could do they didn’t even offer to throw in a helmet. I grumbled a few profanitys went next door to the Triumph dealer, I was greeted within three steps of entering the store, told the man what I wanted talked price, told him I was going to pay cash, he came off the price and threw in a new helmet, An hour later I had a brand new Triumph Bonneville parked outside my house. So this is to ken k Sales folk are prejudgemental towards peoples looks, I laugh when I see the look on peoples faces when they find out I ride a motorcycle, I laugh even harder at the looks I get when I get on stage with my band and get behind my drums.

To Ken K .I walked into the local HD dealer and was also snubbed not only by the salesman but by the sales manager.I did not need to qualify for anything as I had cash.I wanted a new Buell and because I rode in on a FZR600 they wouldn’t give me the time of day.I was so angry I went down the rode and bought a new Ducati 1098 instead. As to the oridginal question I hope the all get what they give.

You can be snubbed by any number of people for any number of reasons. It is not exclusive to H-D dealers and happens in many dealerships across the country. So don’t take it personal, just go to the next dealer. Let economics weed out the bad ones.

Nobody would regret snubbing a loser like you.
And by the way, I was just in Danbury Ct. and someone walked in and asked a salesman how business was doing. The salesman said he had sold 3 bikes that day.

You need to grow a beard and a beer gut. Then you can act like a wanna-be bad-boy on the weekends with the rest of the fat asses.

The real irony of it all is that the Chinese will likely buy HD and end up producing them in China, then importing them to the US.

i own a kymco zx/50 super fever w/ $1,300 in mods. the local harley guys laugh at it/me all the time. when i put it up for titles in a 100 yard run they laugh more, but… not a one has gotten off their H.D. well worn !!! to show where a H.D. is ALL THAT. maybe i missed the point of your post, but i think you are saying, if you run w/ the big dogs- it does’nt mean you are a big dog yourself. keep on bite’n!
